The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has busted a major green card racket and arrested a key suspect and his wife from Battaramula. According to the police the suspect had played out people for millions of rupees by promising them US green cards, social security cards and driving licenses.
Police said that the fraudster, identified as Upali Rajapaksa, had duped several people and investigations were underway to arrest more people who may have assisted the suspect in the scam.
