Textiles worth Rs.2.5 million were seized from a house belonging to a businessman in Wattala by a special team dispatched under the directions of Colombo Central Division SSP Daya Samaraweera.
The textiles were taken into police custody after a complaint was lodged at the division by another textile businessman in Pettah.
The suspect had allegedly been taking away textiles from his friend by unloading extra stocks into his containers. Investigations have also reveled that the suspect had cut several duplicate keys of the storage complex belonging to the complainant. According to the complainant the two have been in business for nearly three months and both have shops in Pettah.

Police were able to recover some of the stocks of textiles from a shop belonging to the accused. During the investigation the suspect’s father was also arrested by police. The suspects were produced before the Aluthkade magistrate and were remanded. The special police team was led by IP J.A.N.S Jayawardena.
