Mrs. Neela Marikkar, Chairperson of Grant Group and daughter of the legendary Deshabandu Reggie Candappa, announced recently that her long time Chief Operating Officer of Grant McCann Erickson, Laila Gunesekere-Martenstyn, has taken on a new role as Vice President for the whole Grant Group.The Grant Group of Companies include Grant McCann Erickson, Response Marketing, GPR Communications Consultancy, Juice Productions and Minds Advertising.
Speaking about the decision, Mrs. Marikkar said, “After over 2 decades with us, Laila is a pillar of Grant McCann. Her new role will include taking the lead in overseeing the management of the Group’s Creative product. Laila, who started her career in advertising as the Creative Director of Minds Advertising, later moved to Grants as the Executive Creative Director. Subsequently she moved into the role of Chief Operating Officer, overseeing operations. Given the dynamic needs of our clients’ brands, she, along with me, will ensure that each of the businesses is delivering and performing at their peak, thus guaranteeing the best results for our clients across the Group. I am very confident that she has the experience and expertise to take the Grant Group’s quality of product to new heights. These are exciting times with the resurgence of business not just for our Group but for the country. We are getting ready!”
A graduate in Sociology & Psychology, Laila also holds a first class Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication. She is the winner of the H.K. McCann award for Leadership Excellence and was a Zonta Woman of Achievement in 2007. She is a lecturer at the SPPACS School of Advertising and currently the President of the 4As – the Accredited Advertising Agencies Association.
